Welcome!
Welcome to the Federal Highway Administrations's (FHWA) Office of Planning,
Environment, and Realty Executive Geographic Information System
(HEPGIS).
The HEPGIS is an interactive, web-based GIS that enables users to access
transportation-related geo-spatial data using only their web browser. Simple
navigation tools allow users to locate and zoom-in to a geographic area
of interest, and to create maps showing various geographic features and themes.
Users can also display information about a specific feature, and can print or
save an electronic copy of any map they create.
Separate application tabs access maps and data that focus on different
transportation areas of interest. Current applications include:
General Information - focusing on Census demographic data;
Highway Information - focusing on national highway network and highway
performance data; Boundaries -
focusing on urban area and metropolitan planning boundaries; and
Federal Lands - focusing on locations and access to various federal and Tribal
lands.
All of the geo-spatial databases used in these applications are in the public
domain, and can be downloaded from various federal web sites. Links to metadata
documentation and sources for each database are provided under the
Geo-Spatial Data link.
The HEPGIS is designed to work on Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5.0 and
above. The applications may or may not work with other
browsers. If you experience problems using other browsers contact the
HEPGIS WebMaster to report the specific problem.
Update 03/08:
The MPO Boundary layer
has been update and added to the Boundaries Application and Federal Lands
Application maps. The boundaries were updated as of 02/08.
